Humana Employees "Build Up" The Healing Place

Employees with Humana were very active volunteering their time, talent, and treasure with The Healing Place.  One team built a much needed privacy fence at the men's campus on Market Street and painted a bathroom in a high-traffic use bathroom.

Additionally, a team of volunteers and family members helped assemble 700 gift bags of donated goods to the men and women clients.  Bags included personal care items, scarves, hats, sweatshirts, t-shirts, journals, and other items.

The Healing Place Seeing Unprecedented Need

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A place hundreds of people turn to for help, is looking for some help of their own.

The Healing Center is looking at a budget deficit of $1 million.

The president tells us costs and demand are on the rise, but donations are down.

The Healing Place helps hundreds of people every year who are struggling with an addiction.

They have cut costs where ever they can internally. But if they don't fill that gap, programs such as child development, parenting, and after care are in jeopardy.

Jay Davidson, the president of the Healing Place, says, "The impression is that we're so good and so great that we don't really need any help, but in fact we do we're just like the other not for profits, we've been struggling for the past couple years."

Davidson is hopeful donations will pick up the second half of this year, as we approach the holidays.
