Alumni Throw a Real Street Party!

Once a year they close one block of Market Street for a real celebration. On September 25, 2004 the clients, alumni and staff of The Healing Place spent most of the day partying together-on both sides of the street and everywhere in between.

And there is much to celebrate: to date more than 1,600 alumni have successfully completed the program.

So they came, to see old friends and encourage new ones. They brought their children and other family members, and there was something for everyone. They ate free food and played basketball, the kids played in the Astro-Jump and everyone enjoyed music and played games. They bought Healing Place T-shirts and sweatshirts, and they bought chances on a car to be given away.

"I am very proud to be an alumnae and chairperson of this annual event," says Diane Sellars. "People come from everywhere to help celebrate the success of our Alums. One of our alumni had family fly in all the way from Los Angeles, California.
"The community is always very supportive of what The Healing Place is doing. Thanks to so many businesses and sponsors that helped make this event the best celebration ever."

We raffled off a car from Bob Hook Chevrolet, and the lucky winner was Leslie Jewell, an alum from the Men's Community. He was ecstatic! The car give-away was definitely the highlight of our event.

"Everyone around THP worked so hard, I don't have enough space to name everyone involved. I can hardly wait for next year."
